LUMA asks for flexibility to align the FY2026 provisional budget

On June 24, 2026, LUMA Energy submits a motion in docket NEPR-MI-2021-0004 on the FY2026 provisional budget: it asks for flexibility to align budget-to-actual expenses and reassign line items. The public file that keeps that piece on the Negociado de Energía portal carries a July name (Motion-to-Clarify-and-Request-to-Strike, July 23), but it is the same URL that groups the June motion and the later resolution. One note is written, not two.

On June 29, the Negociado grants the FY2026 realignment once and warns that it does not endorse budget practices: it demands discipline in FY2027 and FY2028. That warning is the regulator's, not an opex cut this magazine has measured. There is here no million dollars from the motion that the ledger has not listed. The docket is the same one in which Genera, on June 9, asked for guidance on reconciliation and protective treatment, and in which on June 15 the Negociado approved contingency accounts of 30 million for LUMA, 30 for Genera, and 1 million for AEE.

Three moves in one file, three dates. This URL is not the June 18 factors Resolution and Order (MI-2020-0001) nor the FEMA 428 one (MI-2021-0002). Nor is it the quarterly rise of 1.34 cents per kilowatt-hour that Primera Hora covered on June 30. Realigning the provisional budget is not setting the fuel factor.

The filename with July 23 does not authorize moving this note to July. LUMA's public act is June 24; the grant, the 29th. Whoever wants the PDF opens that URL. This is not original reporting.
