Peña Payano: freedom of expression is not one-directional; he does not call the protest illegal
On August 23, 2026, at 2:55 p.m., El Nuevo Día reports, by Gloria Ruiz Kuilan, that Jean Peña Payano reacts from Fortaleza to the demonstrations against Jenniffer González Colón. Freedom of expression, he says, is not absolute: «no es unidireccional.» Donors also have a right to speak. The Puerto Rico Supreme Court, according to that page: when there are demonstrations, «se deben coordinar.» The perimeter protects both sides. There were no arrests; there was «discusión álgida.» Peña Payano does not call the protest illegal. This note does not turn it into that.
The same Sunday he said Esencia's location consult is not a construction permit. That El Nuevo Día page still prints 2,059 cuerdas. On September 1, another note leaves «más de 1,500» and 1,549 against «más de 2,000»: Esencia before the Senate. Two sizes. They are not averaged. This note's subject is speech and the perimeter, not a new Esencia count. The 22nd clash and the gas: Caribe Hilton. The superintendent: no police gas. The backing of González Delgado is September 1, another date.
What remains is a «no es unidireccional», a perimeter, and a refusal to call the street illegal. A reader who wants Peña Payano this Sunday has the El Nuevo Día URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
