The superintendent says there was no gas; Colectiva and MST tell another street
On August 23, 2026, at 3:38 p.m., El Nuevo Día reports, by Alex Figueroa Cancel, that Superintendent Joseph González says the Police followed protocol at the protest against Jenniffer González Colón. There was a plan. Organizers, he said, never coordinated. Roadblocks were expected. There were no arrests. «No hubo gas por la Policía.» Pepper spray or chemical from a protester, according to him, hit three officers. Motorized units and containment; Tactical Operations when some tried to block Old San Juan roads. The closest line, on that page, is coordinate and do not block roads. This note does not call the protest illegal. Coordinate and do not block: that is that page's line. Illegality is not declared.
Ricardo Santos, of MST: the protest was peaceful; shock troops closed them in. Colectiva: baton blows and pepper, public funds for a private PNP fundraiser. On the 22nd, TeleOnce printed Fuerza de Choque and tear gas: clash at the Caribe Hilton. Two versions of the gas. No winner is chosen. They are not averaged. The superintendent denies police gas. TeleOnce prints it. This desk leaves both.
What remains is a «no hubo gas», three officers, baton blows, and a refusal to call the street illegal. A reader who wants the superintendent has the El Nuevo Día URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
