PRFAA announces House committee approval of WRDA 2026

On July 14, 2026, NotiCel reports that the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration gave account that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives approved the Water Resources Development Act of 2026, bipartisan legislation that authorizes U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water-infrastructure projects. The bill will go to the full federal House. WRDA, the outlet recalls, is traditionally approved every two years for flooding, coastal protection, environmental restoration, and navigation.

The legislation includes provisions, studies, and projects that would benefit Puerto Rico, according to PRFAA. It incorporates measures to speed USACE execution, strengthen collaboration with state, territorial, and municipal governments, and improve access to technical assistance. It reauthorizes the High Hazard Potential Dam Program, within FEMA's National Dam Safety Program. It authorizes 133 new feasibility studies, "including in municipality of Puerto Rico" — that is how NotiCel writes it — and 14 construction projects nationwide. The outlet does not name the municipality here or the list of the 14. What was published stands.

This WRDA in committee is not the mayors' Washington mission of July 13 nor FEMA's $91 million in Public Assistance of the 2nd. An authorization of studies, a lobbying trip, and a reimbursement batch are three acts. It is also not the July 14 kernel in which the Board rejected extending the school IVU holiday. Two stories on the same day, two URLs. The reader who wants the PRFAA announcement has the NotiCel URL at the foot.
