LUMA says there could be outages this afternoon and tonight
On July 6, 2026, NotiCel reports that LUMA Energy announced that afternoon that "there is a high probability" of outages during the afternoon and night for lack of generation. According to a social-media post the outlet reproduces, the previous day around 9:30 p.m. units Costa Sur 6 and Aguirre 1 and 2, operated by Genera PR, went out of service and remained in that state.
"If demand exceeds available generation, these conditions could result in temporary interruptions through load shedding. Although generation is not our responsibility, we keep constant communication with the generators to minimize the impact on our customers. We have activated the CBESS program, which allows customer battery energy to be integrated into the grid; however, this resource will not be sufficient to cover peak demand between 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.," LUMA stated. That is its attribution of responsibilities. This magazine does not referee the generation contract or the transmission contract.
This July 6 alert is not the abrupt trip of Costa Sur Unit 6 that NotiCel covered on July 16, with tens of thousands of customers without service, nor the two-weeks-offline notice the Energy czar gave on July 18, nor Genera's reserve-unit deadline that this desk already has dated July 20. Four dates, four acts. It is also not mixed with the preliminary $25,000-a-day fines of July 31. A load-shedding notice on social media, a unit trip, and a reserve deadline are distinct threads.
On the same July 6, NotiCel covered the water plan at Carraízo and the rationing in the east. LUMA and AAA coincide on that day's public agenda. The outlet does not say that one cancels the other. The reader who wants LUMA's notice has the NotiCel URL at the foot.
