Senate: review of P.S. 1435 on the Code of Special Procedures

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., the Senate Legal Committee held a public hearing on Senate Bill 1435, according to the official legislative calendar (id=663), in the María Martínez de Pérez Almiroty hall, 4th Ordinary Session. Senator Ángel Toledo López is listed as responsible for the event in that record.

The Bill of the S. 1435, according to the text summarized in the calendar, seeks to establish the “Code of Special Legal Procedures of Puerto Rico”: to reorganize, modernize, and codify special civil procedures before the General Court of Justice — special successions, guardianship and judicial defender, eviction, procedures for homeless persons, extraordinary remedies, injunction or interdiction, possessory actions, and controversies and provisional states of law.

The measure would also amend Article 1204 of Law 55-2020 (Civil Code) to set a prescriptive term of three (3) years for certain actions against directors, officers, or shareholders of corporations for liabilities created or imposed by law; and would repeal the Civil Procedure Code of 1933 and Law No. 140 of July 23, 1974, on disputes and provisional states of law.

Public view on the calendar ≠ approval in the chamber nor conversion into law. Measure summary ≠ positive report nor adopted draft. Primary: senado.pr.gov/calendariolegislativo?id=663.
