González Colón announces a temporary pause at Carraízo; she does not close the August 7 plan
On September 1, 2026, at 3:09 p.m., El Nuevo Día reports, by Andrea Guemárez Soto, that Jenniffer González Colón announces a temporary pause in the rationing plan for Carraízo reservoir customers. From Wednesday the 2nd, Zone 1 and Zone 2 get water for 48 hours, perhaps 72. She calls it a «respiro». It is not the end of the 48-hour plan in force since August 7. This note does not turn the pause into a close of rationing.
She consulted the AAA, Carlos Pesquera, and the National Weather Service in San Juan. USGS, according to that page, had already put Carraízo above 38.50 meters, observation level. Shoreline dredging is postponed because the pool rose; the machines were ready, waiting on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She floated rehabbing five idle Dorado wells, about 5 MGD, with emergency funds, the JSF, and Aafaf. SNM flagged 1 to 3 more inches Thursday and Friday.
WAPA, the same 1st, by Josian Bruno, prints the same announcement. The source is not switched. On Monday, El Vocero covered an evaluation of periods, not a pause: the AAA will evaluate extending rationing. On Sunday, Carraízo seven centimeters from control: the August 30 monitor. Tuesday overtook Monday. What remains is a respiro, two zones with water, and a plan that is not closed. A reader who wants González Colón's phrase has the El Nuevo Día URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
