El Nuevo Día: Dolly's remnants will make a rainy Sunday in the east
On August 29, 2026, at 9:48 a.m., El Nuevo Día reports that Dolly's remnants will bring a rainy Sunday to eastern Puerto Rico. Lee Ann Inglés Serrano, an NWS meteorologist, describes those remnants as a strong tropical wave. Rain will run from light to significant over the east, peaking around 5:00 p.m. Sunday through Monday morning. The east may see one to three inches, and locally one or two more. Publication is the 29th. This note is not dated the 30th even if the page carries an update stamp.
The models, according to that page, concentrate the bulk over the east interior toward the southeast. It is not enough, the text says, to reduce the drought, but there may be some reservoir relief. In later weeks other waves will come. On the 28th, González Delgado said Dolly was unlikely to move the rationing plans: AAA: Dolly does not change rationing. This note does not rewrite that phrase. Here the NWS describes the wave, not a measured Sunday total. None is invented.
There is a small-craft advisory on the Atlantic, Vieques, Culebra, and the east. High rip-current risk on the north, east, and southeast through Monday morning. Saturday's clouds, the newspaper clarifies, were Friday's weak wave, not Dolly.
What remains is one to three inches in the east, the 5:00 p.m. peak, and a model that does not erase the drought. A reader who wants the forecast has the El Nuevo Día URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
