A water-and-power protest closes the Hotel San Juan entrance at Jenniffer González Colón's fundraiser

On August 15, 2026, Metro Puerto Rico reports that a protest closed the main entrance of the Hotel San Juan, in Isla Verde, during a fundraising event of Governor Jenniffer González Colón's committee, on the occasion of her birthday. The chants centered on the drinking-water crisis and the power interruptions. Guests entered by a side access, jeered. The committee treasurer, Oriol Campos, said the highest-cost ticket is 2,500 dollars a person. The protest coincided with thousands of customers without power after an afternoon transmission failure and with water interruptions in the metro area.
