Jenniffer González Colón vetoes nine measures, from hospice to trafficking
On August 9, 2026, Primera Hora lists the nine measures Governor Jenniffer González Colón vetoed at the close of the prior session. The headline's arc runs from palliative care to trafficking. It is not a floor vote count. It is the inventory of what La Fortaleza struck down, with bill number and topic, according to the newspaper.
Among them, Primera Hora names PC 253, on palliative care; PC 272, to extend the school IVU holiday; PC 1032, on the physician associate; PS 189, on gardens; PS 194, on agricultural loans; PS 298, on the trafficking observatory; PS 330, on school reflection; PS 679, on CDBG housing funds; and PS 813, on the Línea Dorada.
PC 272 had already collided with the Board. On July 14, 2026, Caribbean Business published that the body was saying no to stretching the school IVU holiday: from 2 to 7 days in January and July, with a hole of about $3.4 million a year and about $16.7 million over five years, because it violated the fiscal plan and was not in the FY2027 budget. The legislature had passed it on June 22. The August veto does not erase that July letter. Two acts, two dates, two outlets. This magazine does not declare which was the decisive blow.
The rest of the list does not bring, in the clip, a cost in millions. PS 194 speaks of agricultural loans in a summer when El Nuevo Día, on August 6, had already put coffee and southern irrigation under extreme drought, and NotiCel, on August 23, would publish that local farmers win on price in 30 of 74 products. Those notes do not turn the PS 194 veto into an agricultural figure. They only recall that farming was on the month's agenda.
On August 13 and 17, Metro dates the new session's priorities: permits, inventory, water, taxes. The August 9 vetoes close the prior session. Primera Hora made the list.
