El Nuevo Día: with the OGPe's approval, Esencia is promoted with Mandarin Oriental, Rosewood, and Aman
On August 8, 2026, El Nuevo Día publishes «Un vistazo a los hoteles exclusivos que llegarán a Cabo Rojo con el proyecto Esencia». The summary on that page says that, after obtaining the OGPe's approval for its master plan, the tourism and residential megaproject is promoted with an offer headed by Mandarin Oriental. The date on the page is August 8, 2026, at 11:10 p.m.
The body was truncated when opened. What that page does show, besides the summary, is that Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and Aman are the other two ultra-luxury hotel groups tied to the development in Cabo Rojo. A footnote indicates that an earlier version was edited to add the statements confirming Rosewood's incorporation. There is in the visible text no count of residences and no investment amount.
The approval of the master-plan location consultation by the Permits Management Office, according to the newspaper itself, represents for the developers a key step so that international ultra-luxury hotel flags reach Puerto Rico. That is El Nuevo Día's reading, not a building permit this magazine recounts.
On July 31, NotiCel covered the same approval at another URL. This note does not reuse that dispatch. Here what remains is what the August 8 page leaves on screen: OGPe, Mandarin Oriental in front, Rosewood and Aman, ultra-luxury. This is not original reporting.
The El Nuevo Día page does not publish in the visible text a count of 1,132 residences or a cost of 2,000 million. This note does not paste them from another dispatch. Nor does it rewrite the July 31 consultation in NotiCel. What remains is August 8: OGPe approval, Mandarin Oriental in front, Rosewood and Aman of ultra-luxury. A reader who wants the paywalled body has the URL at the foot.
