The Negociado insists on $25,000 a day against Genera over the reserve units

On July 31, 2026, El Nuevo Día reports that the Negociado de Energía insists on fines of $25,000 a day against Genera PR over the reserve units, but gives an opportunity to explain. There is a preliminary determination. There are 20 days to show cause. A hearing is possible. This note is not the June deadline. It is the regulator's later act.

The fine the newspaper puts down is $25,000 a day. The dek adds that, if applied, they would add up to more than $9 million a year. The clip speaks of eight reserve units. The megawatts of those units are not invented, nor the exact day each was supposed to come online. The newspaper, the daily figure, and the annual projection the dek already published are copied.

Eleven days earlier, on July 20, the same El Nuevo Día had dated another piece: Genera's deadline for the reserve units expires and the fines are coming. June 30 had passed the date the Negociado set in 2024. The regulator spoke of false representations. That July 20 note is the first day of that fine in the outlet's telling. This July 31 note is the preliminary determination. Same controversy. Two dates. Two files. They are not fused.

On August 20, NotiCel covers the PIP filing to cancel Genera's contract and investigate AES. On August 26, El Nuevo Día publishes that the Negociado cuts Genera's operating budget from $345 million provisional to about $278 million this fiscal year. Those later notes are not this fine. August's speaks of a rate docket. July 31's speaks of reserve units and showing cause.

The Negociado insists and opens 20 days. Genera, in this piece, has to explain. El Nuevo Día dated the preliminary determination. This magazine does not turn the $25,000 a day into an accumulation since July 1 or into a collection already taken. The figures are those the source published on July 31.
