The Energy Bureau rejects all reconsiderations of the base rate

On July 29, 2026, El Nuevo Día reports that the Energy Bureau rejected all requests for reconsideration of the base rate. This desk's pick and the ledger align the act: the regulator denies the motions of LUMA, Genera, the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, and others to reopen the rate that has governed since July 1. The page, on opening it, did not deliver a cent-by-cent breakdown. The total rejection stands. A tariff sheet is not invented.

Edison Avilés Deliz chairs the Bureau. This note does not attribute to him a quote that El Nuevo Día did not put in view. On August 26, the same newspaper will cover a cut of Genera's operating budget, from $345 million provisional to about $278, with the chair saying they did not prove it in the record. That is another date and another docket. A July rate rejection and an August budget cut are two acts. They are not advanced.

On June 18, El Nuevo Día had covered the Financial Oversight Board's amendment of LUMA and Genera budgets in light of the rate review. That piece spoke of an operational increase for LUMA. This July 29 piece speaks of closing reconsideration of the base. Two months, two operators, two movements. They are not averaged.

It is also not mixed with the Costa Sur, San Juan, and Aguirre outages of this same fortnight. A base rate and a load shedding are two genres: price versus megawatts. Josué Colón Ortiz does not speak here; the regulator does.

The reader who wants the Bureau's resolutions has the El Nuevo Día URL at the foot. What the page did not open is not filled from memory.
