Genera PR puts generation reserve at 234 megawatts, tight
On July 29, 2026, NotiCel reports that Genera PR's vice president of Government and Public Affairs, Iván Báez, offered the afternoon status. The transmission-and-distribution operator projects maximum demand of 3,085 megawatts, while available capacity amounts to 3,319 MW, an estimated operating reserve of 234 MW, classified as tight. Aguirre Unit 2, he said, operates with limited capacity of 280 MW.
Iván Báez adds that Costa Sur 6 repairs advance according to plan and that the expectation is to complete them during the weekend to return the unit safely. On July 18, Josué Colón Ortiz had spoken of two weeks offline. On the 23rd, the same Iván Báez expected the unit for the following week. This July 29 note points to the weekend. Three calendars. Which will be met is not chosen. What was said each day stands.
The 234 MW of reserve are not the minus 308 MW that LUMA put on July 22. A negative sign and a tight positive reserve are two photographs. The 314 thousand of the 28th and the 9,000 of the 29th at 9:30 a.m. are customer counts, not megawatts. They are not converted into each other.
Genera speaks; LUMA appears only as the one projecting demand. Josué Colón Ortiz is not quoted in this piece. On July 20, this desk already has Genera's reserve-unit deadline as an old kernel. This note does not rewrite it. It covers the 234 MW reserve of the 29th.
