González signs the $13,174 million budget with line-item vetoes

On June 29, 2026, at 5:58 p.m., Primera Hora reports, by Hillary Román, that Governor Jenniffer González Colón signed the FY 2026-2027 budget and used line-item vetoes. The enacted budget is $13,174,703,000, against $13,180,532,000 in the original executive proposal. A line-item veto cuts lines; it does not kill the whole bill. This note does not turn those vetoes into a theft finding.

Police: $270 million more, to $1,131 million, including $44 million for pay scales. Corrections: $21 million more, to $461 million. ASG: $300,000 off trust posts; legal services from $885,000 to $585,000; struck $1.02 million in professional services. Capitol Superintendency: vetoed $2.5 million and left about $7.5 million. Struck $700,000 for Caribbean preparedness outside Puerto Rico and $709,000 for Asociación de Puertorriqueños en Marcha, Philadelphia.

The House, on June 22, had approved $13,180 million: the House approves $13,180 million. On July 6, El Nuevo Día prints the General Fund at $13,174 million: the General Fund at $13,174 million. This note does not rewrite those. What remains is $13,174,703,000, line-item vetoes, and two off-island cuts. A reader who wants Román on the 29th has the Primera Hora URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
