Jenniffer González Colón lays the first stone of Hospital San Antonio
On June 4, 2026, in Mayagüez, Governor Jenniffer González Colón lays the first stone of the renovation of Hospital San Antonio. The investment La Fortaleza publishes is 10 million dollars to fully rehabilitate the second floor, including a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Alongside her, the release names Mayagüez mayor Jorge Luis Ramos, Cabo Rojo mayor Jorge A. Morales Wiscovitch, and José Quirós and Jaime Maestre of Grupo Hospitalario.
The La Fortaleza page is short: it does not break out line items, does not put an opening calendar, and does not count beds. What remains is the first stone, the 10 million, and the second floor. This magazine does not invent a jobs figure or a FEMA ceiling for this hospital. The official text speaks of strengthening hospital infrastructure in the west and of expanding capacity for the families who depend on the center.
The same June 4, on another La Fortaleza URL, the 123.3 million modernization of the Mayagüez Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant begins. On a third, the paving of PR-402 in Añasco and PR-446 in San Sebastián is formalized, from a 94 million package the Junta approved for municipal streets. Three releases, three works, one day in the west. This note covers only the hospital.
Jorge Luis Ramos appears here as mayor of Mayagüez. In the aqueduct-plant release of that same date, La Fortaleza writes José Luis Ramos. The names are copied as each page prints them. They are not merged into one.
Whoever wants the first-stone photos or the full text has the La Fortaleza URL. This is not original reporting.
