Board authorizes up to $18.73 million in Emergency Reserve access for 21 days amid drought
El Vocero reports that the Financial Oversight and Management Board, under executive director Robert F. Mujica Jr., told Orlando Rivera Berríos, director of the Office of Management and Budget, by letter that it had authorized access to the government’s Emergency Fund for the drought. According to El Vocero, the permission remains in effect for 21 days and the authorized limit for that extension is up to $18,730,000 — $18.73 million — for immediate actions aimed at water tankers, mobile water-purification systems and temporary distribution centers. A ceiling is not a disbursement. This note keeps only figures El Vocero prints and invents no payout.
El Vocero quotes the Board saying the extension will provide time to finish reviewing pending requests, obtain required quotes, validate supporting documentation and, when appropriate, authorize eligible expenses without interrupting ongoing emergency response. At the end of the period, OMB must deliver a detail of expenses incurred. A Board letter is reported by the desk; this note does not link a separate PDF. Readers who want the desk account have El Vocero below. Not original reporting.
