At ExpoCom, Jenniffer González Colón says this is the moment to invest

On August 21, 2026, El Nuevo Día covers Governor Jenniffer González Colón at ExpoCom. She says this is the moment to invest and do business in Puerto Rico. She cites jobs and reshoring. The same text recalls that water is rationed and that the permits reform is still missing. The outlet holds the slogan and the drought in the same note.

The figures she puts on the table, according to El Nuevo Día, include a labor force of 1.2 million and 27,439 corporations in one year, a 16.9 percent rise. The DDEC, in that coverage, speaks of 29 projects, 27 companies, $2,681 million, and 5,069 jobs. The trade surplus she cited is $5,400 million: $53,900 million against $48,500 million. Those magnitudes belong to her speech and to the DDEC, published by the newspaper.

The Instituto de Estadísticas, in that same El Nuevo Día text, puts 2025 exports at $62,435 million and the surplus at $7,402 million. That is not a recalculation by this magazine. It is the counterpoint the outlet itself placed next to the $5,400 million surplus Governor Jenniffer González Colón cited. Four days later, on August 25, NotiCel publishes the Institute for fiscal year 2026: exports of $59,706,839,226, imports of $52,931,763,234, and a balance of $6,775,075,992. On the 24th, La Fortaleza via El Nuevo Día used exports of more than $53.9 billion against imports of $48.5 billion, figures aligned with those she used at ExpoCom and not with the Institute's. The speakers are named. No winner is declared.

The 1.2 million labor force is also not used to erase other series. The next day, August 22, NotiCel reported 1,171,000 employed and a labor force of 1,245,000 in July, according to the Department of Labor. In June, La Fortaleza had put March employment at 1.1 million. Three scales, three dates. ExpoCom stays with the 1.2 million the outlet attributed to her that day.

The 29 projects and the 5,069 jobs reappear on August 24 and 25, with $2.6 billion or $2,681 million depending on the outlet. Caribbean Business puts them in the NYSE deck; La Fortaleza, in order OE-2025-012. This note leaves them in the DDEC's mouth at ExpoCom. Rationed water and the unvoted permits code enter here only as the frame El Nuevo Día already placed beside the call to invest.
