Jenniffer González Colón sends five nominations, including Corrections and the PFEI

On August 6, 2026, Primera Hora reports that Governor Jenniffer González Colón is sending five nominations to the legislature. The note's lead is Corrections: after Ana Escobar Pabón's resignation, Julie Gómez Gómez goes to the Senate as secretary of Corrections. There is no confirmation vote count here. There are names, posts, and the fact that the package was transmitted.

The newspaper also names Méndez Latalladi for the University of Puerto Rico cancer campus, Alemar Escabí at Fomento, Gierbolini at WIPR, and Olga Birriel Cardona to the Independent Special Prosecutor Panel in recess. Five nominees. Biographies, years of service, and a sixth name are not added. The list stays as Primera Hora published it.

The ordinary session, according to the same note, opens the third Monday of August. On August 17, Metro dates that start and asks what to expect: permits, inventory, tax reform. On August 13, the same Metro had already put those priorities in the floor leaders' mouths, plus water and oversight of the AAA. The five August 6 nominations arrive at a Capitol that, in those later notes, is occupied by another agenda. The third Monday's order of business is not invented.

Birriel to the PFEI in recess is a calendar detail, not a judgment on cases. Julie Gómez Gómez to Corrections is the succession Primera Hora ties to Ana Escobar Pabón's departure. Fomento, WIPR, and the UPR cancer campus enter in the same envelope. This magazine does not turn those destinations into a cabinet reorganization the newspaper does not describe.

Five names are not a budget and not a permits reform. They are the personnel La Fortaleza asks to confirm while Metro, days later, describes a session of environmental clash and water. Primera Hora made the who-is-who. The Senate vote is not previewed, nor the House's.
