Eliezer Ramos Parés will present to the Board a debt of about $12.6 million in special education

On July 31, 2026, NotiCel reports that the Financial Oversight Board asks Education secretary Eliezer Ramos Parés to clarify on or before August 14 the total money owed for Special Education Program services. The secretary says the Board knows whom they owe and how much, that his team will present the detail the following week, and that the debt reaches about $12.6 million. Amid supplier and therapist nonpayment claims, the Board asks whether a $17,748,534 reprogramming approved June 30 to release money under OGP custody covers all the debts. It is not so, because $12.6 million is owed.

Robert F. Mujica Jr., in a letter, asks to indicate whether the balances submitted with that reprogramming represent the totality of prior-fiscal-year debts. If unpaid obligations remain and were not included, he asks for a reconciliation by fiscal year, with amount and a brief description.
