AAA asks until Tuesday to answer; San Juan insists that Judge Cuevas summon them now
On July 31, 2026, NotiCel reports that the Municipality of San Juan opposes the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority answering Tuesday to its request that Judge Anthony Cuevas hold a hearing over alleged noncompliance. The previous day, the municipality denounced that AAA has not made available to the Water Service Stabilization and Restoration Committee the personnel and crews for inspections and valve adjustments, which would have prevented progress in communities with interruptions. It asserts that the corporation rejected or delayed recommendations of the municipal representative and that executive president Luis Reinaldo González Delgado declined to meet.
Today AAA asked in writing that the magistrate give it until Tuesday and not set the hearing. San Juan replies that it is not a simple request for time: it is an attempt to delay matters that affect thousands of residents. Sanjuaneros cannot keep waiting, the filing reads. It insists he summon at the earliest and deny the extension. It accuses AAA of rejecting recommendations of engineer Roberto Martínez, a former AAA official who now works with the municipality. It is concerning, the lawyers say, to justify the lack of crews with the extreme drought: the controversy is not recent nor born of the last few days.
On July 1, NotiCel covered that San Juan asked for contempt against AAA. On the 2nd, that the city and AAA agreed to keep talking. This July 31 note is the next round: extension versus immediate hearing. Three dates. The desk's old drought kernel is not rewritten. On the 30th, Jenniffer González Colón was speaking of Carraízo; here the dispute is valves and crews in San Juan.
Luis Reinaldo González Delgado appears as the one who declined the meeting; Anthony Cuevas, as the addressee. Miguel Romero Lugo is not named in the stretch NotiCel puts, though the municipality is San Juan. A quote is not invented for him.
The reader who wants the filings has the NotiCel URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
