EcoEléctrica synchronizes unit CT#2 at 8:10 a.m. after the night of the 314 thousand
On July 29, 2026, NotiCel reports that EcoEléctrica technical staff completed work on Unit CT#2 and synchronized it to the system at 8:10 a.m., according to Energy czar Josué Colón Ortiz. They will continue with similar processes on Unit STG until returning it to service that same day, he wrote on X. A little fewer than 9,000 customers were without power at 9:30 a.m. Multiple faults between Aguirre and EcoEléctrica, the note recalls, had left the previous night more than 300,000 without service.
According to Josué Colón Ortiz, EcoEléctrica and Genera Puerto Rico staff synchronized units CT#1 and Aguirre 2 last night at 11:35 p.m. and this early morning at 1:35 a.m., respectively. Those two return hours do not cancel the 314 thousand of the night of the 28th. A trip and a synchronization are two acts. On the 22nd, EcoEléctrica 1 had gone offline at 11:23 a.m. with no return deadline. This July 29 note names CT#2, STG, CT#1, and Aguirre 2. The machines are not confused.
The little fewer than 9,000 of 9:30 a.m. contrast with the 314 thousand of the night. NotiCel does not say the system is normalized. Genera, the same 29th, will put reserve at 234 megawatts and a peak demand of 3,085. That is another piece. Here it covers EcoEléctrica's start-up.
Josué Colón Ortiz speaks on X; EcoEléctrica does not give a long statement in this note. LUMA does not appear. The reader who wants that chain has the NotiCel URL at the foot.
It is also not mixed with the Board's pause on permanent-generation RFPs. Restoring CT#2 is not awarding a new fleet. Two tables, two dates.
