AAA asks for public help to stretch supplies through mid-August
On July 29, 2026, NotiCel reports that the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority claims its measures preserved the reservoirs more than in the droughts of 2015 and 2020, but that very little remains to be done without public help to stretch levels until the rains they expect in late August. Executive president Luis Reinaldo González Delgado cites pressure lower than normal and more aggressive attention to leaks. For Carraízo the moment of the only other adjustment arrived: reducing the amount of water extracted. In a similar situation, he adds, are La Plata, Cidra, and Río Blanco.
It is the moment to use the supply with awareness, he says. These are not days to fill pools, clean with a hose, or wash vehicles. The purpose is to reach the second half of August, when climatologically there are better chances of rain, and postpone a scheduled-interruption plan. If rains remain absent, that plan will be inevitable. The Carraízo dredge, he reiterates, recovered capacity and made it possible to capture recent rain.
On July 27, the same official announced in NotiCel the Carraízo extraction cut. On the 28th, on Radio Isla, he evaluated misuse fines. On the 20th, Rosachely Rivera Santana had listed six reservoirs. This July 29 note adds the comparison with 2015 and 2020 and the horizon of the second half of August. A cut, a fine, and a request for help are three notes. They are not fused.
Luis Reinaldo González Delgado does not publish here a level in feet or a San Juan customer census. On the 30th, Jenniffer González Colón will say Carraízo left the watch area and that rationing is not yet imminent. Two spokespeople, two days. Who measures the basin better is not chosen.
