Nielsen will stop measuring television and radio audiences in Puerto Rico

On July 25, 2026, Sin Comillas publishes that Nielsen contemplates stopping measuring radio and television audiences in Puerto Rico in December of this year, according to remarks to Inside Radio. With that decision, the note says, there will no longer be a way to set the purchase price of advertising slots on radio and television through Nielsen. The subscriber base on the island has shrunk and there were only five firms subscribed. Most stations are not subscribed to the service.

There is no other firm that measures radio audiences, according to Sin Comillas. In television there are three others: Comscore, iSpot.tv, and VideoAmp. Those three brands and the five subscribers are the whole census the piece offers. There is no advertising-billing dollar here, nor a channel's share. The radio void and the residual television oligopoly stand.

This exit of a measurer is not turned into a judgment on press freedom or on the budget of the Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation. It is also not mixed with the contraction IIC of July 17 nor with June employment of the 21st. An audience market and a labor market are two series. On the 23rd, the same Sin Comillas covered Popular's earnings. Bank and rating are not averaged.

December is the horizon Inside Radio puts down. This magazine does not advance a radio successor or an ad price. July 25 is a thin day on the 114 calendar: a single pick. The 26th's hole stays empty on purpose. A fact is not invented to fill it.

Sin Comillas attributes to Inside Radio, not to a Nielsen statement on this page. The reader who wants that chain has the URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.
