A $20 million resolution for nonprofit entities awaits Jenniffer González Colón's signature

On July 21, 2026, NotiCel reports that a joint resolution to distribute $20 million among nonprofit entities remains under consideration by Governor Jenniffer González Colón. The money comes from Sales and Use Tax collections. By law, the funds must go to semipublic, public, and private entities whose services tend toward the development of social-welfare, health, education, culture, and quality-of-life programs, and meet requirements of Act 20-2015 of the Joint Special Commission on Legislative Funds for Community Impact.

A total of 521 organizations qualified. NotiCel names Fundación Por Hospital del Niño, which heads the list with $600,000; Asociación Para La Superación Del Niño Con Síndrome Down, with $110,000; Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico, $300,000; Boys and Girls Club, $250,000; and Carlos Beltrán Baseball Academy, $300,000. The outlet links the full list. This magazine does not invent the rest of the 521.

Those $20 million are not the $20 million in municipal permanent improvements over which Robert F. Mujica Jr. wrote on July 20, according to Metro, to Thomas Rivera Schatz and Carlos Méndez Núñez. A community-impact resolution charged to the IVU and a municipal CIP line under PROMESA are two envelopes. They are not averaged. This list is also not used to verify the senior credit Hacienda announced on the 17th.

NotiCel does not say whether Jenniffer González Colón will sign, veto, or return the resolution. The desk, the IVU, the 521, and the five named amounts stand. The reader who wants annex RCC0372 has the URL at the foot. This is not original reporting.

The Joint Special Commission and Act 20-2015 appear as the legal lock, not as a vote count. The governor appears only as the addressee of the signature. Thomas Rivera Schatz does not speak in this piece.
