The Department of Labor reschedules the launch of Digital Unemployment

On July 16, 2026, NotiCel reports that the Department of Labor and Human Resources rescheduled for September the launch of the Digital Unemployment platform, initially set for August. Secretary María del Pilar Vélez Casanova said the determination responds to requests from employer sectors and will allow firms to complete the quarterly close and the returns for the quarter that ended June 30, 2026.

"We heard the concerns and recommendations of private employers, who asked for additional time to complete their quarterly-close processes and comply with filing their returns. Our priority is to guarantee an organized and efficient transition toward Digital Unemployment," she said. As part of the preparations, the Department will carry out a temporary close of the Employer Portal from August 17 to 28, 2026 for the migration. During that period, employers, outside administrators, and accountants will not be able to access the portal or carry out filings, payments, or electronic transactions of Unemployment Insurance or SINOT. María del Pilar Vélez Casanova said Digital Unemployment is part of Jenniffer González Colón's modernization policy. She referred people to trabajo.pr.gov. NotiCel does not publish here a cost of the platform or a user count. The postponement to September and the August window stand.

This postponement is not the July 10 job losses by MSA nor the June employment drop that Sin Comillas covered on the 21st. A portal, an MSA map, and an employment survey are three series. The reader who wants the DTRH announcement has the NotiCel URL at the foot.
