The Senate will make on-site inspections of medical-cannabis centers
On July 12, 2026, NotiCel reports that the chair of the Senate Health Committee, Juan Oscar Morales Rodríguez, announced on-site inspections on Tuesday, July 14, at medical-cannabis establishments, as part of the investigation into the effect of Act 42-2017, the MEDICINAL Act. The first visit is set for 9:30 a.m. at Cannalytics Bioscience Labs. After that, Novacann Labs Corp. and Green Health Puerto Rico.
"The Legislative Assembly has the duty to exercise serious, objective, and responsible oversight," Juan Oscar Morales Rodríguez said. The aim, he said, is to know first-hand how operations work and gather information for the investigation, so that the Medical Cannabis Program operates with transparency, complies with the law, and answers to patients' interest. The inquiry was ordered by Senate Resolution 319, which instructs an evaluation of the Medical Cannabis Regulatory Board's compliance, as well as the transparency, effectiveness, and results of the system. It also examines administrative, regulatory, scientific, and socioeconomic aspects, including jobs and patients' health. NotiCel does not publish findings from those visits here: the announcement is beforehand. The three addresses and Resolution 319 stand.
This legislative oversight is not the July 11 gaming fines nor the July 3 janitor cuts. A medicinal program, a machine operation, and a school roster are three threads. On July 1, Thomas Rivera Schatz asked DDEC for Politank files; on the 12th, Juan Oscar Morales Rodríguez announces visits to Cannalytics, Novacann, and Green Health. Two committees, two objects. They are not mixed. The reader who wants the Committee announcement has the NotiCel URL at the foot.
