Sin Comillas reprints the CPI: Fortaleza denies access to journalists without a State credential
On December 30, 2025, Sin Comillas reprints that the Centro de Periodismo Investigativo filed legal actions against Governor Jenniffer González Colón and her press secretary, Marieli Padró, for denying the outlet's journalists coverage of conferences at La Fortaleza without a Department of State credential.
In November, according to that page, Wilma Maldonado Arrigoitía and Luis Valentín Ortiz faced obstacles at the security post; that day they entered after a long wait. In December, Valentín Ortiz and editor Noel Algarín Martínez were separately barred from entering conferences, despite carrying personal identifications and CPI badges. Maldonado Arrigoitía asked for the protocol or the law; the text says no official has presented it.
The suit, Sin Comillas reproduces, holds that the State certification serves for press parking plates before the DTOP, not to decide who covers the Governor. Carla Minet, executive director of the CPI, said: «Blocking access to press conferences for lack of an administrative badge, created for other purposes, is a form of censorship that limits the people's right to be informed».
Ey Boricua covered the same thread at another URL. This note uses the Sin Comillas reprint. The injunction is not turned into a ruling. What remains is the date, the names, and Minet's phrase. This is not original reporting.
Maldonado Arrigoitía, according to Sin Comillas, said that State identification is not a requirement to practice journalism and that its practical use was access to parking. Minet added that press freedom cannot be subject to discretionary permits. Ey Boricua covered the same thread; this note stays with the December 30 reprint. It is not a ruling. What remains is the suit and the two attributed phrases.
