The House public-funds commission requires contracting files on energy partnerships
The Public Funds Oversight Commission of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, chaired legislatively with the concurrence of House Speaker Carlos Méndez Núñez, issued summonses and formal information requests to the Public-Private Partnerships Authority (AAPP), headed by its executive director Fermín Fontanés Gómez.
The legislative request demands the immediate delivery of all supplemental contracting files, outside-adviser invoices, performance-bonus payments, and operating disbursements processed for the private consortia LUMA Energy and Genera PR charged to AEE public funds.
The Puerto Rican Independence Party's legislative spokesperson, Denis Márquez Lebrón, underlined that the Puerto Rican people have a right to absolute transparency in the handling of funds assigned to the private electric-energy operators. For his part, AAPP executive director Fermín Fontanés Gómez stated that the public corporation will appear at the hearings complying with the confidentiality and accountability statutes provided in the public-private partnership laws.
