The UPR Medical Sciences Campus revalidates key medical-residency accreditations

The Medical Sciences Campus (RCM) of the University of Puerto Rico, under the leadership of its rectorship and with the backing of UPR president Luis A. Ferrao Delgado, received formal confirmation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) ratifying the full reaccreditation of its medical-residency programs at the San Juan Medical Center.

The federal accrediting entity's determination endorses the academic excellence, clinical rigor, and teaching standards of the residencies in specialties such as neurosurgery, general surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology at the Adult University Hospital and the University Pediatric Hospital.

UPR president Luis A. Ferrao Delgado and School of Medicine directors celebrated the news as a fundamental endorsement of the training of specialist physicians in the country amid the crisis of shortage of health professionals. Medical-sector leaders highlighted that retaining and adequately financing the RCM is indispensable for the health of the people of Puerto Rico.
