EPA: Puerto Rico slated a more than $67 million en agua bajo BIL

El 29 de noviembre de 2024, esta mesa fija el peg de infraestructura hídrica en el comunicado de EPA que anuncia $3.6 billion in new funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law a nivel nacional y señala que Puerto Rico is slated to get more than $67 million for drinking water and wastewater improvements —incluyendo the nearly $25 million that was announced as part of EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Improvements earlier this month. Allotted o slated no es obligated y obligated no es disbursed. Topic both.

These BIL funds will flow through the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (CWSRF and DWSRF), a long-standing federal-state water investment partnership. Today’s announcement includes allotments for Puerto Rico’s BIL Clean Water General Supplemental funds totaling $32.5 million, Emerging Contaminant funds totaling $2.8 million, and $7.6 million in funds under the Drinking Water Emerging Contaminant Fund.

EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan subrayó que water keeps us healthy y que when our water infrastructure fails, it threatens people’s health, peace of mind, and the environment. Con el historic investment del BIL, EPA trabaja con states and local partners to upgrade infrastructure and address local challenges —from lead in drinking water, to PFAS, to water main breaks— creando good-paying jobs while ensuring clean and safe water for homes, schools, and businesses across the island.

Regional Administrator Lisa F. Garcia dijo que the Biden-Harris Administration is committed to providing safe drinking water, resources needed to upgrade aging infrastructure, and address harmful contaminants, y que el BIL provides the critical funds to governmental partners in Puerto Rico. To ensure investments reach communities that need them the most, the BIL mandates that a majority of the funding announced today must be provided to disadvantaged communities in the form of grants or loans that do not have to be repaid.

Los SRF programs have been the foundation of water infrastructure investments for more than 30 years, providing low-cost financing for local projects across America. EPA remite a los sitios CWSRF y DWSRF para state-by-state allocation of 2025 funding y al SRF Public Portal para verificación pública sin inventar filas. English billion y million.

Aquí el aporte es el paquete slated more than $67 million para drinking water and wastewater improvements across the island.
