LUMA claims PREPA owes it over 100 million for operating costs
On June 3, 2023, El Nuevo Día reported, by Manuel Guillama Capella, that LUMA Energy told the Public-Private Partnerships Authority (AAPP) that throughout 2023 it has had to operate with less financial capacity because the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA/AEE), according to LUMA, owes it more than 100 million in the transfers PREPA must periodically make to the consortium’s so-called service accounts.
According to the kicker and the accessible lede of the primary, the company says the alleged pattern of noncompliance began last December (December 2022, on the outlet’s account).
This desk does not invent the breakdown of the service accounts, the transfer calendar, or PREPA’s or the AAPP’s reply: the rest of the primary’s body sits behind a subscription paywall.
Owing is not stealing. A complaint to the AAPP is not a court ruling or an audit that confirms the balance.
