LUMA files report with the Energy Bureau on 158 million in operating spend

On February 17, 2022, El Nuevo Día reported, by Gerardo E. Alvarado León, that between October and December 2021 LUMA Energy reported operating expenses of 158.3 million, an excess of 28 million versus what was budgeted for that quarter, according to the report filed with the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau.

According to the accessible kicker of the primary, the consortium rules out a deficit at fiscal year-end despite that quarterly overage. The lede adds that in its latest report LUMA highlighted replacement of 861 poles, for a total of 2,000 in its first six months running the grid.

This desk does not invent the line-item breakdown, the Bureau’s reply or the full annual budget: the rest of the primary’s body sits behind a subscription paywall.

A reported budget overage is not a confirmed fiscal deficit. A filing to the regulator is not a sanction.
