Only a pinch of the federal funds reaches Puerto Rico

On August 30, 2019, El Nuevo Día reported, by Joanisabel González, that although over the past two years the federal government had disbursed little more than $15 billion to Puerto Rico for Irma and María, the island had never received a $92 billion appropriation as President Donald J. Trump alleged.

According to the accessible kicker, nearly two years after María the private sector said there was still no money for permanent works.

Disbursed is not appropriated. A presidential claim is not an obligated grant line.
