Congress examines the Whitefish Energy Holdings contract

On October 24, 2017, El Nuevo Día reported from Washington that Congress began examining the $300 million contract PREPA awarded to Whitefish Energy Holdings to help repair the electric grid after Hurricane María.

According to the accessible kicker and lede, the company had only two employees at the time of the agreement. Five weeks after María, the grid was operating at barely 20% of capacity.

This desk invents no committee names, billed amounts or contract clauses: the rest of the body sits behind a paywall.

An awarded contract is not a FEMA disbursement. A congressional examination is not a sentence or a finding of theft.
