FNA Answers the Call to Help: coordinate with state, territory, tribal, and voluntary organizations to provide nutrition assistance to families and individuals affected by a disaster or emergency. Topic both.

A state or U.S. territory may request additional disaster waiver flexibilities to assist existing SNAP households affected by a disaster to have their regular program benefits replaced if food purchased with SNAP was destroyed, or to allow households to purchase hot, prepared foods for immediate consumption for a period of time. In certain circumstances, FNS can also provide infant formula and food within 96 hours of a request by FEMA or a state.

18, 2022. On Sept. 23, 2022, FNA approved the Puerto Rico Administration for the Socio-Economic Development of the Family (ADSEF) request to extend certification periods for sixty days for ongoing NAP participants due to severe damage from Hurricane Fiona; waiver through Nov. 21, 2022.

Also on Sept. 23, 2022, FNA approved Puerto Rico's request to extend the expiration date to waive state plan requirements and allow hot foods to be purchased at certified retailers utilizing the NAP card —amended waiver through Oct. 9, 2022; prior hot-foods waiver through Sept. 25, 2022 (approved Sept. 20). On Sept. 24, 2022, FNA approved TEFAP for Disaster Household Distribution in response to Fiona: distribution of USDA Foods pre-boxed packages to approximately 30,000 individuals beginning Sept. 20 through Oct. 15, 2022.

WIC: On Sept. 30, 2022, FNA approved Puerto Rico WIC request for a waiver so participants who did not receive September benefits due to Fiona may receive and redeem those benefits through Nov. 30, 2022, expected only for clinics that remain negatively impacted. Child Nutrition: On Sept. 25, 2022, waivers for SFSP/SSO unanticipated school closures through Oct. 31, 2022 (non-congregate, parent pickup, meal times, school sites) and NSLP/SBP/CACFP flexibilities including meal pattern exception when requirements cannot be met due to Fiona.

El factsheet del hub resume el marco nacional: coordinate closely with state agencies, territories, Tribes, and voluntary organization partners; USDA Foods for mass feeding and/or household distribution during a Presidentially Declared Disaster or Emergency; inventories utilized are replaced by USDA; D-SNAP after Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for Individual Assistance once retailers reopen and power is restored. English million.

SSD only; no GitHub. Primaria = disaster-assistance hub assigned.
