On September 1, 2026, El Vocero (Pedro Menéndez) reported the Senate hearing exchange on Esencia between Sen. Eliezer Molina Pérez and Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER) Secretary Waldemar Quiles Pérez, focused on water-supply uncertainty.

Molina pressed spokesman Roberto Ruiz Vargas for lacking aquifer measurements and warned of drawdown and saltwater intrusion if wells are over-pumped.
