NWS : la sécheresse D3 persiste ; interruptions Carraízo toujours en pause

On September 3, 2026, the National Weather Service San Juan Weather Forecast Office issued the Drought Information Statement for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This note sticks to that PDF; drought map ≠ same-day AAA rationing plan.

Extreme drought (D3) persists across much of eastern and southern Puerto Rico and the USVI; D2 in the east; D1 in portions of the central-southeast interior; D0 in north-central areas and near Hormigueros. On supply impacts, the statement says water interruptions for Lake Carraízo customers were paused, while La Plata and Cidra appear at operational-adjustment levels. In the south there is agricultural rationing via irrigation canals; agricultural disaster declarations remain in force.

USGS 28-day flows: most rivers below or much below normal; wells declining in the south and the Virgins. The outlook points to persistent drought in the USVI, east and south, with risk of expansion inland and northwest. Carraízo interruption pause ≠ end of drought; D3 on the map ≠ automatic residential rationing that day.
