La Junta fiscale avalise le budget FY2026-2027

On June 27, 2026, El Vocero reported that the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) endorsed the Government of Puerto Rico’s consolidated budget for fiscal year 2026-2027, concluding that the document approved by the Legislative Assembly complies with the current Fiscal Plan and PROMESA requirements.

In a letter from executive director Robert Mujica to Governor Jenniffer González, the board said the budget submitted on June 25 is “consistent with the 2024 Second Amended Fiscal Plan,” under PROMESA Section 202(f). The Board set Monday June 29 at 8:00 a.m. as the deadline to receive the budget signed by the governor.

After the endorsement, House Speaker Carlos “Johnny” Méndez said this is the second consecutive budget that meets the Board’s parameters and, in his view, brings Puerto Rico closer to meeting one of the requirements for the federal board’s exit. He noted two more budgets remain under that PROMESA frame.

Méndez acknowledged the House Finance Committee’s work, which held 14 public hearings with more than 45 government entities during budget review, and thanked the Executive and Senate for collaboration in approving the measure.

Endorsement / consistency with the fiscal plan ≠ disbursement of line items or automatic Board exit. Budget certification ≠ end of PROMESA. Primary: El Vocero. Cousin: none.
